Rajini and Vishal's Film Joins for Race on Same Day

Not many heroes would prefer releasing their films on the same day when superstar Rajinikanth’s film releases in theatres. It’s an unwritten rule in Kollywood that leading heroes, knowingly or unknowingly, postpone the release of their films if a Rajini film is to release on a particular day.

When it was announced by the makers of Rajini’s upcoming film Kochadaiiyaan a few days back that the film would be hitting the screens on 11th April, heroes such as Kamal Haasan decided to postpone the release of their films. Kamal, whose sequel film Vishwaroopam II which was to release during the Tamil New Year eve in April, has now decided to postpone the release of his film by a few weeks.

This being the case, it appears rather strange that Vishal has decided to release his next film Naan Sigappu Manithan (which is the name of a Rajini’s hit film of the mid-eighties) on the same day when Rajini’s animation 3-D venture Kochadaiiyaan is scheduled to release (11th April). Vishal has produced the film under his banner and is his second home-production after the successful Pandianadu.

The audio-launch of Kochadaiiyaan is scheduled to be held on the 28th of this month. Vishal might just face problems in getting important theatres/halls to release his film as most of the theatre-owners would obviously prefer screening Rajini’s film to other films. UTV Motion Pictures, which has jointly produced Vishal’s upcoming film, is said to be keen to get some good theatres at least in the city.(PTI)
