Close to 120 Kannada films hit the screens in the year 2013. While the year can be dedicated to small budget films and on screen experiements, the time has come to zero in on the top 10 commercially successful films.
The year gives a thumbs up to actor Darshan who continues his successful run at the BO after Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna with two big hits - Bulbul and the recently released Brundaavana. Actor Sudeep makes a comeback into Kannada, as his only release in 2012 was the Telugu blockbuster Eega. His films Varadanayaka and Bachchan have raked in the moolah, thereby reinstating his position among the top heroes in the industry.
Among the younger actors, the year clearly belonged to Yash who has achieved a well deserved star status with his performances in Googly and Raja Huli. Chetan too stays in the race with his hit Myna, wherein he was cast opposite a powerhouse of talent - Nithya Menen.
Surprise winners of the year were the comparatively small budget films Rakshit Shetty and Shweta Srivatsav's Simplag Ondu Love Story, Satheesh and Shruiti's Lucia as well as Sharan's comedy caper Victory.
Our top 10 list (in order of date of release) zeroes in on films that score high on commercial and critical success...
