New NID (National Institute of Design) in Hyderabad From 2016

Anand Sharma (Commerce and Industry Minister) on Saturday lay the foundation of NID (National Institute of Design) at Hyderabad.The University is up with an 30acers of land on University campus of Hyderabad at a Budget of 155 corers, is expected to offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses for 500 students.

This will be the 4th Design Institute campus in India. The first Institute was estab in Ahmedabad in 1961 and also another 2 campuses in Gandhinagar and Banglore.

Minister said that two more NID campuses were planned in Jorhat (Assam) and Bhopal to develop the students of that regions.Sharma said that Government aimed to make India as a major design port for export by producing 15,000 top engineers in next five years.

In Finland has 145 designer per million, Japan 90 per million and whereas India has a dismal two engineers per million. This need to change in the next five years and we should aim to create a pool of 15000 designer. India will become an outsourcing for designers.

The Institute will help student community towards shaping their career in the most creative sectors and is also expected to benefit the industry to improve their quality of product.
